The Porsche 550 Spyder

This is probably one of the most well known racing Porsches of all time, many tend to relate it to the legendary James Dean, who died while driving his. The first 550 Spyders, which numbered about 100, were in actuality 1955 models. The official name for the car is "550/1500RS", because of the 1500RS engine that it contained. In 1956, the model was called the 550A/1500RS, due to the updates placed upon it.
