The Porsche 914/8



This one is VERY limited. Of course, I am referring to the original two Porsche-built 8 cylinder 914's, not your shadetree mechanic 350 cu.in. Chevy 914. Back in 1969, Porsche was just about to launch the 914, and in doing so, produced 2 prototype 8 cylinder 914s. One of them had the 3.0 L racing flat-8 cylinder installed in a 914/6 body. The only visual difference was the oval air inlet in the front for the extra oil cooler. It was given to Ferry Porsche on his 60th birthday. It was driven for about 6,000 miles, then retired to the museum. The other 914/8 was never street legal. It too is in the Porsche museum. The 914/8 was once clocked at 155mph.....
